Buckshots

Have you ever heard of “buckshots”?   No, I’m not talking about the rapper of Boot Camp Clik (not a plug).   I mean those little tiny hairs on your head (mostly the neck area) that spike up, and unless your into using a hammer to straighten them back in, you will need a little pomade in your life.  Well let me tell you, my hair can be buckshot city.

I am of Puerto Rican descent and my natural hair is extremely tight curls, but after years of abuse with hair straighteners and colorings, I decided to go natural and grow out my kinky curls, but a sista needs help.   I’ve been trying out several products, and I must say I found a favorite.   There are days when my hair is difficult to manage.  You know when it’s 100 degrees outside and the humidity is eatin’ through your locks?   I decided to find some kind of lube that wouldn’t dry out my hair.  After reading some online reviews, and even grilling a sales clerk, I tried both Crème of Nature’s Perfect Edges® and Carol’s Daughter Macadamia Hold and Control Smoother®   So one morning, I pony-tailed my hair and smoothed on the Crème of Nature, and by the time I got to work 45 minutes later, my naps were up and salutin'!   Not cute.  I used it for a few days straight, just to give a fair shot, but it was simply not holding it down the way it should.  It was also a bit too oily for my hair.  I then tried Carol’s Daughter’s Smoother® and WOW!  I couldn’t believe how tight the “kitchen” was (for those of you who don’t know the term, the kitchen refers to the nape of your hair).   I LOVED how it kept my tresses smooth and taut, and lasted all day.  It’s light and smells nice too, and most of all did not flake after a few days of use!

I will be back soon to talk about my experiences with other hair products…

**I am not advocating for or against any of these products, since we all know every hair reacts differently to what we use.   This is based on my personal experience**
