An Artist working In Retail
Can working retail ruin the creativity for a make-up artist?
My experience is yes when you are a makeup artist who wants
to be creative working at a retail establishment it does not work most of these
woman who go to the stores want simple makeup application although you may get
a few that want some extra glam or something dramatic .When you work for retail
as a makeup artist you have may other goals like an individual goal ,counter
goal ,you may need to get people to sign up for a credit card ,you may have to
get someone on a client list and make sure they come back .Sometimes you have
rude and I’m possible clients to deal with .This ruins your creativity as an
artist to really beat a face and be creative. For Myself it a double edge sword
although I hate the retail part of it the fact that I have great customers who
appreciate my work and let me be creative and trust my judgments as an artist .If
you’re a makeup artist and feel like this may relate to you please comment and
share your story with me .
